Kitchens.
Does it get any better then a home cooked meal? Life revolves around eating. Whole cultures are basic on the act. Is there a day that goes by when you don't hear "what's for dinner?" Although the kitchen is not made for this one event. Breakfast the most important meal of the day or so they say, starts in the kitchen.
Would it not makes sense that in fact it is the soul, the life force or the heart of a home. I believe it is. So does a great kitchen mean better food?
Before the reno my kitchen was literally a kitchen nightmare. Green 4x4 tile counters (I mean who does that?) the idea of cleaning the grout. Yikes!! Flat painted wooden doors, brass knobs (which I actually liked) stripe faded wallpaper with a border and the icing on this cake was the awful layout and the faulty appliances including the dishwasher that caught fire!
I know it could be worse and I am thankful but I couldn't wait to demo it.
Once the demo was complete our choices were set in motion. Serious pressure to make the perfect centre of our home. So much would happen in there. Colours, tile, counter tops and layout were part of heated discussions. I kept thinking 'would it all work out' and 'did we choose the right one'. Now mostly complete I think yes we did. The heart of the home is only as great as the people in it. Even though I am not the greatest cook I feel more inspired and confident that I can create something great.
