Moving forward.

Rose coloured glasses.

Is that still a saying. When building an empire there are always haters.
I have to admit I used to get wrapped up in the negative press but now I roll with the mantra of Positive vibes, Positive life. Sounds a bit annoying however it is working. The comments and glares just melt away.
Simply put it really is just their problem. Mostly it's the lack of understanding and plain old grumpiness.
I mind my own business why can't they? I do me, you do you. Nothing they can say or do will stop me from building.
How to stay positive on a rainy day even if the skies are sunny.

      Rose coloured heels. Yes please.

             Reflective sunglasses.

Well....and there's this. Leo gets it.

Go out outside

Summertime

It's not all ice creams and beach parties. Ok maybe it's.
The BBQ is the full time chef and I think I am actually eating
more vegetables.
So we got a little bored day 3 but now we have
this summer thing dialed in. The best way to make summer last is to make everyday
interesting. How do we do this before the summer slips into fall.
Make lists? That feels a little too work place. So I Pinterest inspirations. (Be careful
you could get addicted)
What should we do first two scoops of ice cream, camping, beach day,
or hometown tourist?
Whatever it is making it count. Slap on the sunscreen. Grab a hat and let's go!

Chillato by Essie. Painted toes at the beach.

                                  Victoria Secret bathing suit. Amazing!

                                       Camping picture from Pinterest.

Make mine a double scoop of chocolate chip mint,
pack my bag and let's live like gypsys.

New views.

More space.

The move is complete. Our plan is in motion. Swamped with decisions and choices I have to remind myself  "it's not done yet". It will all come together. Sigh...All I want to do is curl up into a ball and hide. Kinda like what all the animals have been doing. The cat finally started talking to us again. The dogs however were more forgiving as they get a fantastic new yard to explore.
Would anyone notice if I went on a early summer break? Moving, renovations, year end concerts and recitals not to mention the bounty of other things. I am thankful but a little frazzled. I feel like we need a sign that says "excuse the mess, but we are a little nuts"
Positive vibes. Positive life right?
The mess so far.

The before. Every wall they painted yellow.

During the reno. Skylights check. Open concept. Check.

It's almost done right? Its the "I will just stay out of his way time."Check.
BBQ it is!

I would run away to my happy place but I am pinned under some boxes.
Send help, in the form of cold beverages.

Chilled.

Sunglasses at the ready.

My horoscope says I should be piling on the greens
but all I seem to be eating is chocolate, it's a fruit / seed right?
Getting the spring in my step has been a little harder but I have
been getting out more then I have in years. Sunglasses or umbrella is
the question. Living on the West Coast we feel the easy living and mild
weather guilt. We all have to get out in the sun when it shines.
Even though we have a city that is considered to have the worst traffic.
(I wouldn't disagree, the seawall can be packed at times. No really it can.)
We don't care, traffic is just part of the journey.

So how do we live so chill here? Of course there are always stresses
but what helps us live our laid back lifestyle? Here are some ideas to
inspire a life of easy living.

Take a break! Get off that "sea wall" enjoy a moment,
catch up with yourself. Photo- My own.

Pull out the patio furniture, light the BBQ and don't forget the salad!

Boundaries.

It's a fine line.

I usually consider myself a non planning free spirit type but in reality I may be a bit of a control freak. Maybe all this time I have planned it out that way..
I like to know the rules. Mainly so I can make them work for me. I don't mind boundaries or fences either. Which works nicely to know exactly what's mine and where I can spread my wings.

After we purchased our new project and laid our first official footsteps on the property the neighbours came out of the wood work.
As a self described free spirit I wanted all to be happy and prescribed a dose of peaceful compromise. My partner a very smart and shrewd business type promptly started to map out the iron survey pins. Along with string and orange tape he set the boundaries. The funny thing is that I realized I felt freer and was surprise how much more property we had. I think he got a little bored of my excitement on the mapped out space.
Even the neighbours seemed 'pleased' because the iron pins are fairly binding. On that note Let the games begin!
Inspiration for boundaries.

Blues?

Resol-blue-tions?
Blue Monday is that a thing? Apparently it happens in January but I refuse to let it get me down. So I searched for and found blues that are chic and cheery. It may not be the Pantone colour of the year, it definitely complements it.
Luxurious navy, ocean blue and of course denim is always in style. Essie's blue 'spun in luxe' cashmere finish maybe my next nail polish purchase. Felicity Jones awards dress maybe not be everyone's favourite it was refreshing to see something new.

Blue just might be the new neutral...

Ralph Lauren chesterfield, Felicity Jones from The Fashion Spot blog,
Essie's Spun in Luxe, Kate Middleton in a Canadian design Smythe Jackets,
Blue grey hair from Pinterest and Denim and Navy heels from Pinterest.

Blue or not I am putting on some jeans and going for a walk...

Fixer upper?

Now that we finished our last project we are buzzing to start the next one.  The new year is all about starting fresh. New clothes. New attitudes. Old habits gone. Well... Maybe not all of them! I still have to remain human right?
I actually don't believe in the whole resolutions thing. Changing for the better should be everyday.
So I want to make choices daily to be a better me. All signs point to Let's do this!
Starting with: Dressing better with aside order of brushing my hair. Kidding! (Not really)
Using my creative side more effectively.
                           Focus on health and thankfulness.
                           See more. Do more.

The Urban Outfitters have a shop your "sign" page. Hocus Pocus aside I will happily believe.

Found this great picture of the Northern Lights on Google from the Travel Alberta site.
Do more, see more might require me to leave the nest a little.
